Another Confession August 4th, 2019 Sunday

Confession: OK, OK, I Did exactly what you think I did. It was NOT last summer, but several, several summers and a while more than that, back.  I took some writing I was impressed with out of a movie review and used it as if it was my own writing. I knew better, but I can tell you, LIKE ALL OF US, I am not always in control of absolutely everything I do. There are ole men in dingy rooms a the security agency who pull strings and make all of us do things we would not ordinarily do. I know you are NOT BUYIN' this statement.  It was a review for the movie ALian and the critic said it would scare the nuts out of your M & M's and yes, I went for it and used the same phrase in a review. I forgot all bout it, but GOD wants me to tell you about it so I am. BUT I still say there are these ole string-pullers who make many BLACK men do things thay wouldn't normaly do. So that's the confession.

Dear...

     I first want to thank you for visiting me concerning my health care affiliation with Pennsylvania Wellness. I still haven’t heard anything from them officially, but I did take my physical yesterday and the doctor called me and said everything looked pretty good with my blood work and to continue to taking my medicine.  

     I want to meet with your grouping of young people and you to talk about what I’m calling The League of Associated Nations.   The League of Associated Nations will take the place of the United Nations because the United Nations is heavily influenced by the Jewish Lobby; The United State’s aspect of Turtle Island . { the Native Americans call Turtle Island all of North America, South America and Central America}.  Undue money influences from rich individuals are also at play with the United Nations;  and lastly, the United Nations is controlled almost totally by the United Nations Security Council and their veto powers.  The influence of The United Nations Security Council’s former permanent members { Russia, China and the United States} must have this power stripped from them as they become just three nations with voting powers like any other three nations.

     The United Nations Security Council was ripping apart any chance the United Nations has of ever really representing the world’s countries because the United States; China; and Russia, have way too much say as to what gets heard, voted on, vetoed and passed into international law and international policy.  What becomes international policy and international law needs to be voted up or down by a one nation one vote process. These are my own thoughts and opinions and I don’t expect or want your group to feel it has to follow what I have said in lock step.

     You can have a very important and powerful part to play in this process and you do NOT AT ALL have to do what I have proposed here. I just thought and am thinking that your group - because it in multi-cultural and youthful - and I could serve as an adviser for your group.  I also think we should be paid, from a very un-corrupted source through grants. I am sure this can be worked out very soon. My thought is that the universe will help us because the universe doesn’t want to be in the kind of trouble that is brewing right now. I haven’t been up on what goes on at the United Nations lately, but I still think what I have told you here is fact. Please prove me wrong or update me if you wish. I want to meet with your group as soon as possible. As you can see with international events the way they are, your help is needed. I have also proposed a group called the Coalition for Peace, Justice and Freedom in the Middle East that you may also want to read about. It is a less ambitious group that plans to have a major impact on international policy towards the Middle East by allowing a more democratic grouping of people to take part in developing that policy. Who needs more of a say? Teachers, working people, students, children, parents, poor people, crossing guards, people of color, construction workers, city workers and such, not just academics, politicians, corporate heads, major media, diplomats, and rich individuals.  These plans have been worked on by me for several years and they will take serious thinkers to take them on.  Levity is a must, but I think we can all see the shape of the world and how more mass seriousness will do us all a world of good!  Leaving everything to ``the professionals’’ is what got us in a situation that needs so much help and work.    Please contact me as soon as you can.

Kennedy Food Garden 19th and John Fitzgerald Kennedy Boulevard UM, Um, Um!

I recently went to The Kennedy Food Garden at 1901 John Fitzgerald Kennedy Boulevard in Center City Philadelphia, not far from West Philadelphia – where I live.  On a break from the Philadelphia Free Library, I went to lunch here and found myself in a place I had been wanting to go to for about six months.  ( The Mother of a friend of mine lives right across the street. She was the mother of late writer – editor Mr. Joseph Beam, ``In the Life,’’ a writer who would have been 100 times more professional and recognized that I am as a writer had He lived).

Getting back to the food at The Kennedy Food Garden, the rotisserie chicken was nice and tender, well-spiced and wonderful. I plan to go back soon.

     **Where are we going as a country? Why are so many people competing for the King or Queen of stupidity Award each and every week? As Marvin Gaye once said `` What’s Goin On?’’

     ** Let’s take the show Dish Nation on FOX as a classic example. This has to be the dumbest show on television land which is saying a whole lot. Materialism, empty-headed, dumbed-down, irreligious, unethical, excuse me, did I say stupid?

    

     **What dogs the so-called stars are taking care of, how the stars wear their hair, the latest wave of hair-culture among BLACK women. Who the heck cares when the U.S. { Part of Turtle Island As Native Americans call north, central and South America } is on the brink of a serious war with North Korea or Iran; BLACK People are still too unemployed and oppressed; and Europeans remain stuck in the serious juices of racism like lost tomatoes in Mom’s stewed tomatoes. As Iyanla Vanzant says ``Get Over It!: Thought Therapy for Healing the Hard Stuff’’ { Her new book title! } Get Real and start making your life worthwhile.

   

 *****Suggestions: Learn to swim; read a serious book { call me at 1 – 215 – 823 – 9985 and I’ll send you my serious book list }; eat healthier by skipping Burger King and go to a Salad place instead; send some donations to the Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital; Try Discover Channel; History Channel; Nickelodeon; BLACK Entertainment Television; Public Broadcasting System; or ``Fix My Life’’ on Oprah Winfrey Network  ( OWN). Don’t shut down FOX, improve it.

3] Relate to people you trust.

4] Stay away from any  illegal drugs, alcohol marijuana.

5] think positive.

6] Invest money [ ask me how.].

7] Eat better food such as fruits & vegetables.

An Ode to GALUSHA PENNYPACKER –

   **Poverty is not a dead end without an opening for escape.  There are people living without shelter right under our noses at Vine Street near 19^th Street right on the way to or from the Free Library, main branch.  They are stretched out laying near and or around a statue of Galusha Pennypacker.  When I see this my heart sinks and I think that we as a city could do so much better. As a nation we in Turtle Island’s North America { The U.S.} could do so much better.   Being ever vigilant is not enough.  We often have chosen the wrong tactics or have given up or don’t vote, or just feel frustrated and head for the bar or the nearest illegal drug dealer.  DON’T GIVE UP! Here are some tactics you might not have thought of:

** Ask and demand that BLACK people in power – the BLACK private sector, the BLACK elected officials, BLACK church and BLACK civic leaders – ask them for a ``HOMELESS UNIVERSITY’’ specifically designed to teach homeless people { People living without shelter} about how to budget money better; how to respect themselves by refusing to eat the poor-quality food offered by the Church Missions and food pantries; cook for themselves; not visit stores like WAWA, McDonalds, Burger King, Hardy’s, Wendy’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Bob’s Big Boy - which flourish off of poor-people’s dollars and offer nothing back to stem the falling tides of poverty - and go to Salad Works, BLACK VEGETARIAN PLACES LIKE HABISCUS AT 49^th and Baltimore Avenue, and Sweet Greens at 40^th and Walnut Street instead or, even better, cook at home, if YOU have a place to stay;; Cook low salt, low fat, tasty foods omitting foods like white rice, white potatoes, white breads, pork, beef and fatty oils { These cooking techniques can be taught at the New Homeless University};learn how also, to stay away from illegal drugs, illegally-gained prescription medicines, alcohol, cigarettes, and the human trafficking culture; learn how to contact people in the community who are responsible, reliable, hard-working and honest – there are plenty – and learn how to avoid much of the technologies that are separating our people and pitting our people against one another; learn inner strength through music and other media choices.  

     ** Making it off of pennies is not an option. We need to introduce legislation that demands the quadrupling of disability benefits, welfare payments, food stamps, and other government plans. The rich will get richer because the poor will have more money to spend on good and services owned and distributed by corporations owned by the wealthy. The middle class will expand. More store ownership by formerly poor people will commence.  Poor people will be able to lift themselves out of poverty. THIS IS A WIN-WIN SITUATION. I tell you, this is not rocket science.      **Meanwhile, watch more educational video on You Tube and read more books. (Write me for my book list). The endless mind-numbing and dumbing down of media will turn around as public expectations grow for more diverse and educational media. Watch movies like ``The Learning Tree’’ and ``Sounder’’ and ``Hunter Killer,’’ ``Five on the Black Hand Side,’’ ``12 Years a Slave,’’ ``Green Book,’’ and ``The Hunt for RED October.’’ Listen to songs like those by Caston and Majors ``Light in My Window,’’ and Stevie Wonder’s older songs like ``Living for the City’’ and some of Marvin Gaye’s tunes like ``What’s Goin On.’’ 

     **Get plenty of rest and exercise. Join Planet Fitness when they have a One-Dollar special. Stay there when you need rest. If you have a locker you should be able to stay there for at least three hours when you are on the street and can’t get to the Free Library.

**Also: If you are brave and really angry don’t steal ANYTHING! What I want you to do is go to the supermarket and place everything you dream of buying in the shopping cart and take it to the front of the line and say ``Sorry Miss, or Sir, I don’t have any money to pay for this.’’ Let them put the food back. Don’t do this at a Black supermarket like the Fresh Grocer at Broad and Jefferson. Go out in the Burbs to GIANT or an elite market. They can’t arrest you for forgetting you don’t have any money. {IF WE LIVED IN A DECENT COUNTRY YOU WOULD HAVE MONEY. THERE IS NOT EXCUSE FOR THE GREEd AND FINANCIAL DISRESPECT!} . }  I felt embarrassed doing this but I have done it in the past and experienced a good feeling of taking action that helps make waves of change. Tell them GOD Almighty told you to do this, if they ask questions.

Review -- ``BLING''!

A Review of the Movie ``BLING’’

The bloody and ruthless hurtfulness of Sierra Leone’s civil strife over diamonds gives way to authentic concern by rap artists in ``Bling,’’ a current documentary depicting part of that African nation’s diamond business ( the mostly seamier side).

How Africans from Sierra Leone are hurt by the export of the shiny hard stones is detailed – especially how Black children’s lives and African villages are impacted in mostly negative ways.  Physical violence is graphically depicted in this film so please view it before you allow any children under 15 to watch this.

Early in the film we see showy rap celebrities strutting and flashing the expensive rocks in front of the public, but as the film progresses, the rap artists ( one of whom is of European decent ) see the result of the violence and want to and do improve on their values and ethics regarding the violence surrounding the diamond trade in Africa.

How the graphic suffering of Africans can change minds is at the core of this film. One sever weakness of the film was not to examine how BLACK Spirituality, positive BLACK religious expressions and positive religious experiences among Black Africans and African Americans interplays in good Ways with the diamond trade.  Such positive experiences and expressions have helped make things fairer, more balanced and a whole lot less violent on the Black continent.
